Anyone who picked Chris Johnson 8th or 9th in his or her fantasy drafts.
Johnson just inked a four year, 53 million dollar deal with a whopping $30M guaranteed. The deal comes just in time to get Johnson a few reps in camp and ready for the season opener against the (likely disappointed) Jacksonville Jaguars.
I have been fortunate enough to be a guest on the Big Lead Sports program on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports (Sirius 210, XM 87), and so much of the talk and questions have been about Johnson;
Will he or won't he get a deal done by week 1?
What kind of shape will he be in?
Where should I draft him?
That last question has had the Fantasy pundits baffled. I had heard anywhere from #5 to late first round (the latter is just plain silly), but I don't think anyone, expert or first-timer, would have ranked Johnson any lower than number four, if they had known that this deal was going to get done.
Sadly, my first draft is tonight, so unless I can keep my combatants away from any news outlets for the next five hours, I have no shot at the elusive RB (I draft 7th), but I would like to say, "Congratulations" to you forward-thinking, risk-takers who picked up the Titan phenom.
It all starts for real next week, so good luck to all!
